Coordination Meeting: Plans for development of industrial zones discussed

A coordination meeting on the future action plans for the development of industries and industrial zones was held at the Mandalay Region Government office in the morning on 8th of June and was attended by the Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than, Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung, Deputy Ministry for Industry, Region Ministers, officials from the Ministry, Region and District level officials, Chairmen of industrial zones in Mandalay Region and officials.

First, the Union Minister clarified the histories of the industrial zones’ establishments, forming the industrial development Committee and industrial zones development Committee and industrial zones supervisory committees.

The Union Minister highlighted the establishment of industrial zones including 28 established industrial zones, 5 industrial wards and 2 industrial zones under the implementations. In those industrial zones and wards, there are 7972 small scale, middle scale and heavy scale industries which have created over half million job opportunities.

As there are industries which are operating outside the industrial zones, it’s required to establish new industrial zones. The Union Minister also elaborated the Industrial Zones Law which was ratified on 26th May, 2020 and Industrial Zones By-law which was promulgated on 2nd April, 2024 and other matters extensively.

Next, the Mandalay Region Chief Minister gave a remark regarding with the industrial zones in Mandalay Region and the development for the industrial zones in the Region.Then, the Director General at the Union Minister’s office clarified the enactment of Industrial Zones Law and by-laws, forming the Industries and Industrial Zones Development Central Committee, its responsibilities, works to be done, work processes to be carried out by the regional Committee, establishment of new industrial zone etc.

with the Power point.Next, the officials of the Ministry of Industry, Chairman of Mandalay Region Industrial Management Committee, Good Brother Co., Ltd and attendees gave the necessary suggestions for the development of industrial zones.

Then, the Union Minister gave a conclusion remark.In the afternoon, the Union Minister and Mandalay Region Government Chief Minister visited No (2) Industrial Training School (Mandalay) heard the clarification of the Director General of the Directorate of Industrial Collaboration and the Mandalay Region Chief Minister gave a necessary elaboration.

And the Union Minister gave necessary instruction.After that, the Union Minister and Region Chief minister inspected machinery installation for opening garment training and upgrading of training school and gave necessary instructions.
