





Union Minister for Education, Dr. Nyunt Pe held a coordination meeting with Rectors of the Universities at the Ministry of Education in Nay Pyi Taw on 19th December.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister Dr. Zaw Myint, Directors-General, Rectors of the Universities, Directors-General and relevant officials. Rectors and deans from the respective universities attended the meeting via video conference. In his opening speech, the Union Minister noted that it has been one month since universities reopened for the 2024-2025 academic year.
He encouraged teachers to help students enjoy their studies and pass their exams, to provide comprehensive lessons according to their respective subjects, and to ensure that they are teaching with proficiency. He also urged teachers to continuously study their subjects to improve their knowledge.
The Union Minister further emphasized that rectors, pro-rectors, and professors should regularly visit classrooms and conduct inspections to ensure the quality of teaching and learning. He also urged the relevant universities to organize fresher welcome events for new students in line with Myanmar traditional cultures.
He instructed that student attendance records be systematically collected daily and that efforts be made to ensure 75% attendance for each class. Afterward, Deputy Minister Dr. Zaw Myint clarified plans to increase student enrollment and improve the quality of teacher training programs.
He emphasized that adhering to instructions is not only a duty of every public service personnel but also an important aspect of maintaining personal ethics. He discussed the importance of being mindful and upholding this responsibility.
