Coordination Meeting: Meeting for promoting agriculture & livestock based production

A coordination meeting on the tasks to be implemented with the State’s economic promotion fund and promoting agriculture and livestock based production in Mandalay region was held at the Mandalay Region Government Office on 30th March.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Tin Htut discussed extended cultivation of mixed crops that are suitable with the region, development of contract farming system, encouraging to increasing agricultural products, fulfilling technique, capitals and markets that are necessary for farmers, cooperation in seed production, dissemination of agricultural technique by establishing agriculture and livestock model villages and applying farm implements including paddy dryer.

Deputy Minister Dr Tin Htut and officials then inspected operations of crop protection laboratory and food safety measures and the Deputy Minister called for upgrading the lab and the needs for improving lab expert resources.

Likewise, the Deputy Minister and party looked into implementations of cow breeding farm (KyuWun) of the Livestock, Breeding and Veterinary Department (LBVD) in PatheinGyi Township and discussed the needs for breeding cows that are suitable with the region.

The Deputy Minister and officials then arrived at the Sericulture Research and Technical Development Center in PyinOoLwin and reported on functions of the center. In response to the reports, the Deputy Minister discussed development of Myanmar sericulture industry and requirements for production of value-added silk cottons.
