Coordination meeting: Meeting to form the Integrated Committee held

The coordination meeting for forming the Integrated Committee for Coastal Marine Resources Conservation Research and Technical Exchange and designation of assigned duties was held at the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation in the evening on June 5 with the attendance of Union Minister U Min Naung, Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi and Myanmar Maritime Police Force and Departmental officials.

At the Meeting, Union Minister U Min Naung said the meeting is held for forming the Integrated Committee for Research and Technical Exchange to carry out educating campaigns and marine conservation works as quickly as possible with the coordination by holding meetings participated by the relevant organizations for the sustainability of Myanmar territorial sea and marine resources.

The Union Minister U Khin Maung Yi said the 11 assigned duties of the Integrated Committee for Coastal Marine Resources Conservation Research and Technical Exchange are needed to base for the discussion. Myanmar coastal stretched one-fifth of the Bay of Bengal ecosystem and its ecosystems such as sandbank, mangrove forest, coral reef, sea grass and island are providing the products and services of ecosystem.

Forming the natural areas at coastal region, cooperating and exchanging technologies in the biodiversity conservation research with regional countries, implementation of international conventions and commitments, for the establishment of research works and human resource development, protection from illegal fishing in the country's territorial sea, fishing with unscrupulous methods and evading in the protected areas for fishing and disposal of waste in the coastal line and sea water are to be designate as the assigned duties of the Integrated Committee for Coastal Marine Resources Conservation Research and Technical Exchange as well as implementing the decisions of the central committee regarding with the territorial sea and marine resources conservation.

Then, the Director General U Wei Lin Maing of the Department of fisheries clarified the arrangements to form the Integrated Committee for Coastal Marine Resources Conservation Research and Technical Exchange and the attendees discussed the related matters.
