Coordination meeting: Meeting to enhance search & rescue operations held

A coordination meeting to further enhance search and rescue operations in earthquake-affected areas of Mandalay Region and to expedite rehabilitation efforts was held at the Central Command Headquarters meeting hall in Mandalay.

The meeting was attended by Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung, Lt-Gen Myo Moe Aung from the office of Commander-in-Chief (Army), Central Command Commander Brigadier General Kyaw Ko Ko Htaik, Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement, region government ministers, and relevant officials.

First, the Chief Minister delivered opening remarks, emphasizing the need for more effective and intensified search, rescue, and clearance operations. Subsequently, the commander and departmental officials provided updates on the ongoing priority-based search and rescue efforts in areas damaged by the earthquake.

Following this, Lt-Gen Myo Moe Aung urged officials to accurately assess the ground situation to ensure swift and effective relief operations. He stressed the importance of providing timely medical treatment and necessary healthcare to the injured, as well as supporting international rescue teams to maximize their efficiency.

After the meeting, Lt-Gen Myo Moe Aung, the commander, and officials visited several earthquake-damaged sites, including the Great Wall Hotel, U Hla Thein Dhamma Beikman, Jivita Dāna Sangha Hospital (Mandalay), Nadi Myanmar Hotel Mandalay, Mandalay University, and Milepost 385/5 on the expressway. They inspected ongoing rescue operations and presented cash assistance to the rescue teams working at these locations.
