Coordination meeting: Meeting on efficient and effective energy use held

The Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than gave an opening remark at the coordination meeting on efficient and effective Energy use held at the office No (30 of the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw on 6th November.

In his remark, the Union Minister said that this meeting is held to discuss the matters related to the industrial sector development including emergence of a legal framework, Industrial Zone Law and By-law regarding with the activities of efficient and effective Energy use implementing by the Ministry of Industry as the focal Ministry.

The Ministry of Industry together with the Ministry of Energy have collaborated in the ASEAN Efficient and Effective Energy Use Sector since the Year 2000. The Ministry of Industry has been assigned as the focal Ministry in the efficient and effective Energy use activities in the National Energy Management Committee formed in 20213 and the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Department was formed in 2014 with the aim at implementing the relevant activities.

The suggestions for the efficient and effective Energy use, industries to be implemented under the Industrial Zone Law and By-laws for the development of the industrial sector are invited and the opportunities for the collaboration with Myanmar Engineering Society and affiliated associations will be formulated.

Next, the Director General of the Union Minister’s office, Director General of the Department of Industrial Supervision and Inspection, Chairman, Vice Chairman and expert and Deputy Director General of the Directorate of Industrial Collaboration discussed the relevant matters.

After the attendees gave suggestions on the points to be included in the draft law and the approaches to be implemented for the development of industrial zones, the Union Minister gave a conclusion remark.
