Coordination meeting: Matters to organize Thingyan festival discussed

The coordination meeting for successfully organizing 1385 Myanmar Era Myanmar traditional Maha Thingyan festival was held at the Rakhine State Government Office in Sittwe in the morning on 26th March and attended by the Chief Minister U Htein Lin, State government members, State level departmental officials and invited guests.

At the meeting, Patron of Steering Committee for Organizing Myanmar traditional Maha Thingyan festival Chief Minister U Htein Lin said that the Steering Committee and Work Committees have been formed and assigned duties. The Thingyan festival has been planned to organize a low-key to maintain the tradition.

But, the Fragrant Grinding Festival, offering scented water to the Buddha Images, paying obeisance to the older persons and taking Paritta Suttas recited by the members of Sangha will be organized without fail. The opening and closing ceremonies of Thingyan festival will be held like the previous years. Observing precepts and offering alms-food to the members of Sangha in the morning and Thingyan festival with the entertainment programs in the evening will be held.

The water playing with water in long boats will be organized as Rakhine Traditional Thingyan festival.Next, the Chairmen of work committees State government members and State level departmental officials clarified work implementations of each work committee and tasks planned to be implemented. After giving supplemented clarifications by the State Ministers, the Chief Minister gave necessary instruction and made a speech of conclusion.
