Coordination meeting: Matters on long staple cotton cultivation project discussed

The coordination meeting on long staple cotton cultivation and production across the country and the comprehensive development of long staple cotton hybrid strain research works was held at the meeting hall of the Office of the Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation in the morning on 2nd April and attended and participated in the discussion by the Deputy Minister Dr. Tin Htut, departmental officials and long staple cotton researchers and experts.

Speaking at the meeting, the Deputy Minister said that the staple cotton crop is a crucial goods for the clothing of the people and the industrial raw material. It’s needed to preserve the collected long staple cotton varieties systematically especially the variety imported from abroad, thoroughly varification of cotton variety before those are distributed to the farmers is required, regarding with the long staple cotton, it’s needed to cover the whole country, it’s also needed to the development of long staple cotton hybrid variety culture subject field, strenuous efforts for the works and continuous imparting and nurturing professionals, drawing plans to give professional refresher courses and strengthening programs, giving training for seed culturing subject field and researchers to work steadfastly as well as participation of farmers themselves in the efforts.

Next, the Director General Dr. Ye Tint Tun of the Department of Agriculture clarified regarding long staple cotton cultivation project and the departmental officials, researchers and experts discussed in related sectors and the Deputy Minister supplemented requirements in the discussion.
