





A coordination meeting for future plans of industrial business and industrial zones development was held at the Ministry of Industry on 6th June. Union Minister of Industry Dr. Charlie Than said Myanmar have already established 28 industrial zones and industrial wards with 2 ongoing projects.
A total of 7,972 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises are currently operating in these industrial zones, providing Job opportunities to more than 500,000 workers. The Union Minister stressed the need to established new industrial zones since there are businesses, operating outside the industrial zone area.
Moreover, the Union Minister highlighted the enactment of the industrial zone law in order to supervise the industrial zones. According to the law, the central committee, regional committee and management committee were formed.
He called for suggestion of the attendees for effective implementation of the law. The meeting later discussed the work plans of the Central Committee, and Regional Committee as well as the plans to implement new industrial zones and work operation at the Deckhinathiri Industrial Zone.
The Union Minister concluded the meeting, instructing for the development of industrial zones while recruiting the skilled workers through networking with the vocational training schools, technological colleges and universities.
