Coordination Meeting: Efforts for safe and convenient public transportation

A work coordination meeting on CNG powered vehicles was held at the Yangon Region Government office on Tuesday in order to provide safe and convenient public transportation.
The meeting was attended by Union Minister for Energy U Ko Ko Lwin, Chief Minister U Soe Thein and the officials from the Yangon Region Transport Committee.
In his opening speech, the Union Minister said that the Ministry of Energy is making concerted efforts to meet the nation's fuel needs as much as possible while implementing for increased production of the inland natural gas to provide efficient natural gas for CNG vehicles. Plans are underway to widely use CNG in the transportation sector as inland natural gas production increases, he added.
The Union Minister highlighted the benefits of using domestically produced CNG such as saving fuel costs and foreign expanses. He urged all to make the collective efforts in implementing these tasks with its relevant organizations.
Yangon Region Chief Minister stressed that the CNG transportation sector is important for public transportation and it is necessary to systematically follow the targeted plans to meet the demand of natural gas supply.
And, the officials from the Yangon Region Transport Committee presented the needs of CNG-powered vehicles to facilitate the public transportation.
Then, the Union Minister expressed the need to establish the set standards for orderly implementation and the Chief Minister coordinated the necessary issues upon the presentations.It is reported that relevant organizations will draw up plans and schedules for successful implementation in systematic use of CNG-powered vehicles in the transportation sector.
