Coordination Meeting: Discussion of stability of commodity prices

On 11th September, Union Commodity Stability Committee held its meeting at the Ministry of Planning and Finance with the attendance of Committee Chairman, Deputy Prime Minister, Union Minister U Win Shein.

In his opening remarks, the Union Minister stressed that the market price of rice is issued monthly and the operation of the rice mills and rice shops are supervised by the relevant organizations for the convenience of people.

He also highlighted the exerted efforts of the committee in increasing edible oil allocation in respective regions and states, securing market operation, stabilizing medicine and medical supplies price as well as ensuring sufficient fuel supplies.

The Union Minister elaborated the compensation for the flood affected paddy farmers in accordance with the weather index-based crop insurance.  He also encouraged the farmers to apply crop insurance policy and urged the relevant officials to make concerted efforts in raising crop insurance awareness among farmers and striving to meet targeted yield.

Vice Chairman of the Committee, Union Minister for Commerce U Tun Ohn also clarified the current work implementations and tasks to be carried out. After sector wise discussions of the attendees, the Chairman of the committee coordinated necessities.
