Coordination Meeting: Discussion on Myanmar Coast Guard Bill

A coordination meeting for finalizing the Myanmar Coast Guard Bill was held at Ministry of Legal Affairs on 7th March.

Union Minister for Legal Affairs and Union Antony General Dr Thida Oo, Deputy Minister for Defence General Ko Lay, Director General of Myanmar Coast Guard Commodore Tet Lwin Tun and concerned officials attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the Union Minister delivered the opening speech, followed by the Deputy Minister for Defence, who led the discussions on the implementation of the bill.

The discussions covered a range of issues, including security measures from Myanmar’s sea to the special economic zone, national maritime security, enforcement of maritime law, effective rescue operations, combating illegal activities utilizing sea route, addressing transnational crimes, and prevention against the Pirates. Based on the discussions and reports, it was concluded that this law is essential and will play a pivotal role in enhancing security measures for Myanmar's maritime domain, law enforcement, and combating transnational crimes.
