







A work coordination meeting for the 2024 Population and Housing Census enumeration was held at the Mandalay Township city hall on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, Chairman of the Central Census Commission Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing, highlighted the ongoing efforts to enumerate the nationwide census in regions, states, districts, townships, wards, and villages based on the data of the estimated population of over 56 million and 13 million households in 2024.
The nationwide census enumeration is set to be conducted from October 1st to 15th , and the Union Minister emphasized the need for advance arrangements to extend the enumeration period if necessary, due to security issues and transportation difficulties.
He also pointed out the importance of conducting extensive public awareness activities regarding the census process. Training courses, including the census coaching course, are scheduled to conduct in coming August. The Union Minister called for advanced plans to conduct multiplier courses.
The Union Minister urged all to collaborate for the step-by-step implementation of this process. The relevant officials reported on preparatory work for the 2024 Population and Housing Census in Mandalay Region, the role of population and the significance of population growth, along with reviewing the census data collected in 2014 and 2019.
Subsequently, public awareness TV spots about the census tasks were screened for airing on TV channels. After that, the Union Minister handed over the census collection facilities to Mandalay Region Census Committee Chairman U Wai Zin Tun. Upon the conclusion of the meeting, the Union Minister and the Chief Minister viewed around the census-related facilities on display.
