





Under the guidance of the Steering Committee on National Level Development of Electric Vehicles (EV) and related industries, the EV Charging Stations have been constructed during the pilot period.
Altogher 19 stations, 4 in Nay Pyi Taw, 5 each in Yangon, Mandalay and Yangon-Mandalay Expressway are being constructed during this period. On Wednesday, the EV Charging Station on Yangon-Mandalay Express Way was opened at 115 miles Bus Terminal in Phyu Township.
The facility was constructed by Earth Renewable Energy Co., Ltd. Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant attended the ceremony and gave a speech. Official from Earth Renewable Energy Co., Ltd also explained the construction process of EV Charging Station. After formal opening of the ceremony, the Union Minister unveiled the signboard of the station.
The Union Minister and party later viewed the EV Charging Station, and test charging and driving of EVs. For the convenient commuting, toll tax exemption have been granted for EVs starting 1st April 2023. At present, efforts are being made for convenient operation of Electric Vehicles along the urban road network in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay.
Moreover, plans are underway to run EVs on major road network like Yangon-Mandalay Expressway, Yangon-Taungoo-Meikhtila-Mandalay Union Highway, Yangon-Pyay Road, Yangon-Pathein Road, Yangon-Bago-Phayagyi-Thahton-Mawlamyine Road, Meikhtila-Kyaukpadaung-Bagan/NyaungU Road, Meikhtila-Taunggyi Road and Mandalay-Pyin Oo Lwin-Lashio Road.
