Convenient Accommodation: New hostel opened at University of Medicine – 2

On October 5th, the University of Medicine - 2 inaugurated the MyaThiLar Hostel in Yangon, with the attendance of Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win and other concerned officials.

The ceremony commenced with the ceremonial ribbon cut and sprinkling scented water on the building’s commemorative plaque by the Union Minister and party. Following a documentary photo session, the Union Minister and party inspected the hostel's layout.

The second part of the ceremony took place at Mya Yee Nandar Hall, featuring student’s dance performance and a video presentation on the history of the University of Medicine - 2, Yangon.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Union Minister noted that, under the guidance of the SAC Chairman, the Ministry of Health is investing billions in constructing dormitories and staff housing, alongside regular funds. He expressed pride in inaugurating a new hostel on October 5th, coinciding with World Teachers’ Day, aimed at providing a conducive living and study environment for medical students as well as international exchange participants.

Following the speech, Z&Y Company Limited formally handed over the completion record of the six-storey hostel to the Director General of the Department of Human Resources for Health.

The Rector of the University of Medicine - 2 delivered a speech of gratitude. Subsequently, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein presented a cash donation of 10 million kyats to the Rector for multi uses.

The event continued with the presentation of commemorative gifts. The MyaThiLar Hostel, a U-shaped six-storey building spanning 81,900 square feet, is designed to provide accommodation for 500 students.
