Contract Farming System: Government Will Disburse Loans And Seeds To Farmers

The Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development will implement the contract farming system that connects rice and green gram farmers with companies and cooperatives with agriculture loans. Currently, registration list will be collected in 7 regions and states that grow green beans most.

Thi Thi Myat, Director, Cooperative Department said “The officials of the townships in 7 regions will collect the number of farmers who grow the green grams and will form the cooperative societies with them. We will implement the contract farming system and develop the rural roads in Bago, Magway, Mandalay, Yangon, Ayyarwady and others.  In the green grams season, we will open the bakery training courses farmers to run the family businesses that can produce foods made of green grams.” 

To forming the cooperative societies, the government will disburse loans and seeds that conduct with related companies.  On the other hand, the companies will buy the crops from the farmers at the market prices and will continue to support not only for green grams but also for other seasonal crops, according to the director of cooperative department.
