Construction Progress: 100 MW Gas-Solar Hybrid Power Plant in Magway

The 100 megawatt Gas-Solar Hybrid Power Plant is currently under construction near Thapyay San Village in Magway Township. On September 12th, Magway Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin visited the site to review the progress.

The project, implemented by Magway Hybrid Power Co., Ltd., is designed to enhance electricity supply in the country. It features 100 megawatts of solar power and 126 megawatts of gas engines. Spanning 598 acres, the project is 39% complete and is budgeted at over 218 million US dollars.

Initiated in July 2022, it is scheduled for completion by February 2025. Once operational, the gas will be transmitted to the Magyikan Control and Distribution Station (Magway) via a 132 kV line. The plant is expected to operate for 15 years.
