Leader of Bulgaria’s GERB party Boyko Borisov voted in the country’s eighth parliamentary election in five years. The vote took place amid an ongoing political crisis following an anti-corruption movement that contributed to government instability.

The grouping associated with former president Rumen Radev was projected to perform strongly in the election, with a platform focused on anti-corruption measures. Borisov stated that GERB would not take part in coalition governments. He also said the party’s position was pro-European, including support for cooperation with EU institutions such as the European People’s Party, the European Commission, and the European Parliament.
