Conferring of Religious Titles: SAC Chairman attendes the ceremony in Nay Pyi Taw

A ceremony to confer the Religious Titles for 2025 took place at Aggha Dipati Sasana Beikmandawgyi in the compound of Maravijaya Buddha Park in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday.

The ceremony commenced with the three time recitation of Namotassa and the congregation led by Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife took Eight Precepts from the Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Thanlyin Min Kyaung Monastery Sayadaw.

Then, the Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru title recipient, Rector Sayadaw of State Pariyatti Sasana University in Mayangon Township of Yangon Region delivered the Ovada Gahta, followed by the submitting of religious matters by Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin. This was followed by conferring of the religious titles to the recipient Sayadaws, nuns and laypersons.

During 2025, the State Administration Council presented the religious titles to 120 Sayadaws and members of the Sangha, two nuns and 10 lay persons. In today’s event, religious titles and insignias were presented to 8 recipients of Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru title, 5 recipients of Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika title, 20 recipients of Agga Maha Pandita title, 52 recipients of Agga Maha Saddhama Jotikadhaja title, 25 recipients of Agga Maha Ganthavacaka Pandita title and 10 recipients of Agga Maha Kammatthana Cariya title.

In addition, the Agga Maha Ganthavacaka Pandita title and insignia to two recipient nuns and the Sasana Nuggaha titles and insignias to 13 recipient laypersons. The remaining recipient Sayadaws, Nuns and laypersons were also presented by the officials of Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, and respective Regions and States.

After sharing the merits gained, the Prime Minister and wife and party donated rice and offertories to the Sayadaws from home and abroad, members of the Sangha and nuns who received the religious titles.
