




The completion ceremony of pre-employment training (4/2023) for deputy officers who will be assigned at Region/State Election Commission offices was held at the office of the Union Election Commission on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman of the Union Election Commission U Thein Soe encouraged to continue learning about Proportional Representation (PR) system and highlighted the preparation tasks of the commission to hold a free and fair multiparty democratic general election such as amending laws and by-laws, ensuring the correct voter lists, arranging polling station locations and equipment, collecting workforce, conducting training course and construction of required infrastructures.
He added that trainees should be aware that the government is actively working on educating public about Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine (MEVM). Therefore, the trainees must learn about the MEVM to be able to clarify its usage to public.
There are 43 registered political parties and UEC is making collaborative efforts with the relevant departments to ensure that the parties are collecting party members, opening offices and establishing party fund in accordance with the set rule and regulations, he added.
He reiterated that the role of the service personnel in respective townships are crucial as the election will be conducted based on townships and encouraged the trainees to make exerted efforts in successfully holding of a free and fair multiparty democratic general election.
The ceremony was attended by members of the Union Election Commission, officials from Union Election Commission office and 28 trainees.
