





In a bid to enhance the ecological appeal of its tourist destinations, the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism is actively promoting environmental sustainability through its "One Tourist One Tree" initiative, in cooperation with relevant departments and associations.
As part of this initiative, Deputy Minister U Phyo Zaw Soe oversaw the planting of commemorative trees by representatives of the Myanmar-Russia Tourism Promotion Familiarization Trip (FAM Trip) near Mount Pleasant Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw on 21st October.
Following the tree-planting activity, the Deputy Minister received the representatives of the FAM Trip at the Ministry's meeting hall.
During the meeting, Deputy Minister discussed enhancing FAM Trips between Myanmar and Russia, promoting Myanmar's destinations through Russian media, cooperation in international tourism exhibitions and other events, the implementation of Memorandum of Understanding on tourism cooperation.
He urged private associations from both countries to sign a tourism cooperation agreement. He also noted the increasing number of Russian tourists, inviting them to the fifth national sports festival in December while discussing ways to ease access to Myanmar's destinations.
Following the Deputy Minister’s speech, officials from the Russia-Myanmar Association for Friendship and Cooperation discussed further collaboration on tourism development, B2B business matching, workshopsas well as accommodations for Russian athletes in the fifth national sports festival and efforts to increase Russian tourist arrivals. The Deputy Minister reiterated the importance of making the necessary arrangements to support these initiatives.
