Commemorative Event: International Day for Disaster Reduction 2024

In commemoration of International Day for Disaster Reduction 2024 which falls on October 13th, Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement held the opening ceremony of Youth Empowerment for Disaster Resilience training course at the Ministry with the attendance of Vice Chairman 2 of the National Disaster Management Committee, Union Minister Dr. Soe Win in Nay Pyi Taw on 25th September.

In his remarks, the Union Minister stressed the capacity of youths in disaster risk reduction campaign, the crucial role of individuals in disaster management measures and called on youths to actively participate in environmental conservation activities to reduce potential disasters.

The Union Minister urged the trainees to apply the knowledge and experiences gained from the training in fulfilling their respective duties for the interest of the nation. During the training, the extensive courses including disaster precaution and preventive measures and systematic disaster responses will be provided.

Also, the knowledge related to rehabilitation tasks and role of youths in disaster management will be shared. A total of 30 trainees from civil social organizations are attending the training from 25th to 27th September.

Next, the Union Minister together with the Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U ThanTunOo visited Aung San Hall in Tatkone Township and met with the flood victims and gave words of comforts and provided relief items, clothes, rice, instant noodle packs and drinking water bottles.
