







The Shan New Year Festival commemorative dinner was held at 5:00 PM on November 19 at the State Sports Ground in Kengtung, Shan State (East).
First, the Shan New Year Festival was officially opened by Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung, Commander if the Triangle Region Command Ma-J Gen. Soe Hlaing, and responsible officials, who cut the ribbon. The Chief Minister and officials, then toured and viewed the ethnic cultural exhibition booths.
Afterwards, the second part of the ceremony continued. Various ethnic groups from within Shan State performed the opening song. Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung stated that Shan State is a state where various indigenous ethnic groups live together, and it is known that these ethnic groups celebrate their respective national days and new year festivals every year according to their own months.
He mentioned that at the traditional New Year festival of the Shan people held on November 19, he was pleased to see the participation of brotherly ethnic groups such as Tai Long Shan, Tai Khun Shan, Tai Loi Shan, Tai Lay Shan, Loi (Palat), Bamar, Akha, Lahu, Wa, Kachin, En, Lisu, Palaung, and Ake. He expressed his happiness at seeing such a full gathering of Myanmar's brotherly nationals at the traditional New Year festival of the Shan people. He also urged everyone to collaborate in efforts for national development, the socio-economic progress of the ethnic people, ethnic unity, and peace processes.
Following this, the Shan State Chief Minister presented a cash donation for the Shan New Year Festival. A responsible person from the Festival Organizing Committee received it, and it is reported that a commemorative gift was given in return to the Chief Minister.
Subsequently, Commander of Triangle Region Command Ma-J Gen. Soe Hlaing gave a greeting speech and presented a cash donation for the Shan New Year Festival. A responsible person from the Festival Organizing Committee received it and presented commemorative gifts in return. The Patron of the Shan New Year Festival Organizing Committee, U Sai Sam TiT, explained matters related to the festival's organization.
After that, the Chairman of the Shan New Year Festival Organizing Committee, U Sai Tit Aung , expressed Words of thanks. Honorary cash donations and commemorative gifts of appreciation were exchanged. Outstanding students who passed the Matriculation Examination were awarded with academic excellence awards and certificates of honor.
It is then reported that the distinguished guests were hosted with a New Year commemorative dinner, and ethnic traditional songs and dances were performed for entertainment.
