Commemorative Ceremony: ITEC Day-2023 observed in Nay Pyi Taw

The ceremony to commemorate (India Technical and Economic Cooperation) ITEC Day-2023 was held at Park Royal Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday.

Union Minister for Electric Power U Nyan Htun, Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr.Vinay Kumar, concerned officials, former ITEC traninees and the invited guests joined the event.On the occasion, Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Vinay Kumar made an opening speech highlighting that the Indian Government has been providing the short and long-term capacity enhancement trainings under ITEC since 1996 and a total of 20,000 Myanmar trainees have completed the trainings.

It’s great to see that all of the trainees are able to apply their knowledge and experiences they have learnt in their workplaces effectively and plans are underway to conduct more trainings for Myanmar trainees, he added. In his congratulatory speech, Union Minister U NyanTun pointed out strengthening of diplomatic relations and friendship between Myanmar and India.

Since the India government has been providing assistances for the development of the human resources, a total of 137 trainees from electric power sector has been sent to India for the trainings between 1998 to 2023. Also, 126 trainees were dispatched for the ITEC related trainings.

The trainees learnt about electricity generating, transmission and distribution both theoratically and paractically in the trainings and used their knowledge in their workplaces effectively. He also recommended to increase the number of trainees and to extend the training period.

The proposal for conducting the trainings related to solar energy, wind power and hydro power and power transmission through transnatinal grid are already submitted, he added. Then, the former ITEC trainees exchanged their experiences and a documentary video clip about ITEC was screened. Then, the 2nd Secretary of the Indian Embassay in Myanmar expressed words of thanks. After the photo session, the attendees were served with dinner.
