





In accordance with the theme, "Montreal Protocol: Advancing Climate Action", the World Ozone Day 2024 was held at the City Hall, Dawei of Taninthayi Region in the morning on Monday.
At the event, the Chief Minister of the Region, U Myat Ko, highlighted that Myanmar has been observing "the World Ozone Day" with commemorative events since 2008 and continues to hold these events annually with the purpose to increase public awareness about the importance of the ozone layer not only for current life on Earth but also for future generations. He encouraged everyone to participate in and contribute to activities aimed at protecting the ozone layer. This year's theme, "Montreal Protocol: Fixing the Hole, Accelerate Climate Action," emphasizes the need for all individuals to actively engage in both ozone layer protection and climate change mitigation efforts to the best of their ability.
Next, the Chief Minister, Chief Justice of the Region High Court, Deputy Commander of Coastal Region Command and Region Minister watched the video clip of the message sent by the UN Secretary General, the awareness video of World Ozone Day, awarded the prizes to the winner students of essay and painting contests and observed the exhibition booths displayed in commemoration of World Ozone Day.
