Commemorating event: 16-day campaign to eliminate violence against women

The 2023 commemorating event of the 16-day campaign to eliminate violence against women was organized by the Myanmar National Committee on Women at Kumudra Hall of Hotel Max in Nay Pyi Taw at 10 AM on 25th November.

At the occasion, the Chair of Myanmar National Committee on Women Union Minister for Social Welfare Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win said the commemorating event of the 16-day campaign to eliminate violence against women is being organized around the world annually and also in Myanmar.

The violence against women is increasing from the domestic violence, at the workplace, online and different places, the violence against women is a global problem and needs to protect with collective effort. The violence against women and children causes many bad consequences and hamper the development of the women.

This year’s theme UNITE! Invest to prevent violence against women and girls", and the theme stressed the points of investing with powers of human, finance and knowledge in the education, health and legislative phases to prevent the violence against women and children.

Myanmar has signed the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and is implementing for the development of the women by setting the strategic plans etc. Consequently, the educating Video Clip on elimination of violence against women was screened and posed for the documentary photo and the ceremony was concluded.
