Four more suspects were arrested in connection with a terrorist plot targeting the opening ceremony of Thanlyin Bridge No.3 in the Yangon Region.

This follows the initial announcement on June 10th, which reported the arrest of nine suspects. Subsequent interrogations led to these additional arrests and the seizure of various weapons and explosives, including one FGC-9 gun with a magazine, six improvised mines, a Chinese-made grenade, a remote control, 29 .38 caliber bullets, a handmade bomb, four keypad handsets, nine batteries, and a package of Pearl Fertilizer.

The interrogations revealed that the suspects had undergone a one-month terrorist training course in Lay Kay Kaw Myothit, organized by PhyuHnin Aye, also known as MeeEain Shin, a member of the Yangon UG Terrorist Group.

During this training, they were instructed by fugitive Yee Mon of the NUG to carry out terrorist acts in Yangon. The suspects joined the Dark Shadow Terrorist Group in October 2021 and have since been involved in terrorist activities in Hlaingthaya, Mingalataungnyunt, and Dagon Seikkan Townships.

Fugitive Yee Mon provided them with arms, ammunition, explosive devices, and cash through Chan Nyein Thu, also known as Panda Lay. Authorities have stated that effective legal action will be taken against the suspects. The public is urged to report any information regarding terrorist activities to the authorities.
