Combating Online Scams: Efforts to eradicate illegal online activities

The government is conducting a thorough investigation to identify and uncover all individuals involved in online scams and online gambling activities.

On Thursday, a total of 47 foreign nationals from India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan,   Uzbekistan and Russia were deported to the respective countries through the Thai – Myanmar Friendship Bridge No.2 in accordance with legal procedures, as well as humanitarian compassion and fostering mutual relations between the nations.

They were illegally entered to the Shwe Koke and KK Park area in Myawaddy and acted criminal activities such as online scam and online gambling. From 30th January to April 10th, the government has detained a total of 8,740 illegal immigrants, and among them, 7,278 have been deported to the respective countries in accordance with legal procedure.

The remaining 1,461 were ready to be deported as well. The Government, in cooperation with international organizations and the public, has been effectively and decisively combating and eliminating various forms of online crimes which have increasingly threatened and harmed the state and people. 

Local authorities are also taking decisive action to uncover and prevent online crimes, ensuring that such activities are eradicated through investigation and enforcement.
