Combating Online Crimes : Efforts to eradicate online gambling and fraud

Myanmar has intensified efforts to combat illegal online gambling and fraud, targeting areas like KK Park and Shwe Kokko. On Saturday, security forces demolished 10 more illegal buildings, bringing the total to 206 demolished structures, used for these crimes.

In addition, 223 foreign nationals, involved in illegal gambling and fraud, including citizens from China, Viet Nam, Malaysia, India, and several other countries were arrested and detained. Since January 30, 2025, Myanmar has detained 12,468 illegal foreign residents, screened 11,893, and repatriated 9,978, following legal procedures, with 2,490 ready for repatriation.

Authorities continue to monitor, investigate, and dismantle illegal operations, seizing computers, mobile phones, routers, and other equipment used in online scams. The government emphasizes that combating online fraud and gambling is a national priority, coordinated with neighboring countries to ensure the crimes cannot operate in Myanmar.
