Colombians pray for senator Miguel Uribe as he undergoes emergency brain surgery

Colombian Senator Miguel Uribe Turbay, a 39-year-old Presidential hopeful from the right-wing Democratic Center party, remains in critical condition following an assassination attempt on June 7, during a campaign rally in Bogotá's Modelia neighborhood.

The assailant, a 14-year-old, shot Uribe twice in the head and once in the leg. He was immediately transported to the Fundación Santa Fe hospital, where he underwent emergency neurosurgery for an acute brain hemorrhage. Despite initial signs of improvement, his condition remains "extremely serious," with a guarded prognosis.

In response to the tragedy, hundreds of Colombians gathered outside the hospital to pray for Uribe's recovery. His wife expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and urged the public to continue praying for his survival.
