Colombian research ship gathers data to update Antarctica nautical charts

Colombian research ship ARC Simon Bolivar is collecting hydrographic data for updating nautical charts, enhancing maritime safety, and improving technical capabilities for Colombia and Antarctic Treaty countries. Utilizing the Kongsberg’s multibeam echo sounder, the survey will cover the Gerlache Strait, spanning 329.75 km2 from 90 to 1000 meters depth.
