Colombian president Ivan Duque said on Tuesday that Venezuela's decision to reopen a key border crossing was designed to help boost political support for the country's leader, Nicolas Maduro. Duque, who doesn't recognize Maduro as the rightful president of Venezuela, said Colombia saw through Maduro's intentions.

He also said "Colombians won't be useful idiots of electoral intentions of the dictatorship on the road to local elections in Venezuela". Venezuela is going to hold local and regional elections next month.

but,Duque said he supported the reopening of the crossing "for the sake of the people". The crossing, at a bridge between Venezuela and Colombia, was closed by the Maduro regime after the Venezuelan opposition tried to use it to transport humanitarian aid from Colombia in 2019.
