Colombian President names new police director

Colombian President Gustavo Petro appointed Mayor General Henry Armando Sanabria as the new director of the National Police of Colombia. The new Gustavo Petro government is seeking a reform of the national police institution after several human rights scandals, seeking to make it more humane.

"It will become a police force that, as the constitution says, is the full guarantee of the rights and freedoms of all citizens without exception, from the poorest to the richest, but knowing that the one who needs the most is always the poorest." said Petro during his speech.
