The Colombian capital of Bogota, in collaboration with the Universidad Antonio Narino, is developing a comprehensive program to reduce the city's pigeon population through sterilization surgery on males - a project now in its first year of large-scale implementation.

"A reduction of approximately 70% of the pigeons has been achieved at Bolivar Square," said, leader of the pigeon rock dove program at the District Institute for Animal Protection and Welfare. Large pigeon populations can pose public health risks, making this program an important step in managing urban wildlife responsibly.
