Colombia leader vows to deepen ties with Venezuela

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro hosted his Colombian counterpart in Caracas on Tuesday.

Maduro said he discussed trade, security and borders with new leftist President Gustavo Petro. The pair also spoke about reintegrating Venezuela into various regional institutions.

Speaking at a news conference, Petro said he wanted Venezuela to join the Inter-American Human Rights System. He also called on Chile, Ecuador, Bolivia and Peru to accept the reintegration of Venezuela in the Andean Community as a member, with all the powers, with all its rights and duties.
