Negotiators of the rebel National Liberation Army and the Colombian government returned to Cuba and officially installed Tuesday a table for dialogue.

Its main objective is to achieve a bilateral ceasefire that will allow controlling a conflict of more than 70 years in the South American nation. The parties opened the third round of negotiations for a total agreement. The conflict has claimed thousands of victims for decades.

Talks between the ELN and the Colombian government resumed in November last year after the swearing-in of President Gustavo Petro, who made "total peace" a strong axis of his political program.
