Collective ordination ceremony: MoRAC Union Minister participated in the ceremony

The traditional procession of collective temporary entering into the order of Buddhist monk, novice and nun by the staff families of International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University (ITBMU) led by the Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin was held at the Shwedagon pagoda platform starting from the ITBMU in the afternoon on 1st April.

The procession was conducted in line with the Myanmar traditions and customs. The procession also paid homage to the Kabaaye pagoda. When the procession got back at the ITBMU, the novice ordination procedures were carried out for the 39 Buddhist monk-to-be, 21 Buddhist Novice-to-be and the procedures entering into the order of Buddhist Nuns for 10 Buddhist Nun-to-be such as shaving head, seeking permission to wear the robe and undertaking 10 precepts for novice ordination and 8 precepts for nuns.

In the morning on 2nd April, the 39 Buddhist monk-to-be were ordained in the Theravada Pasarani Ordination Hall in line with the Theravada Buddhist procedures or Vinaya rules of the ordination by the 31 members of Sangah who are the faculty Sayadaws of ITBMU.

After completing the ordination procedures, the well-wishers led by the Union Minister U Tin Oo Lwin and wife offered the offertories to the 31 faculty member Sayadaws and 39 newly ordained temporary monks, altogether 70 members of Sangha.

The merit sharing ceremony of the collective temporary entering into the order of Buddhist monk, novice and nun was held at Bhavanamahasabha meditation Hall of the university.

At the ceremony, the congregation led by the Union Minister observed five precepts administered by the Rector Sayadaw of ITBMU and took the Paritta Sutta recited by the members of Sangha.

Next, the Union Minister and officials offered the offertories to the members of Sandha led by the Rector Sayadaw and the wife of Union Minister and wife of permanent secretary offered offertories to the faculty member 4 Senior nuns.

Then, the Union Minister supplicated words of rejoice for the offering ceremony regarding with the collective temporary entering into the order of Buddhist monk, novice and nun. After that, the congregation led by the Union Minister took the sermon delivered by the Rector Sayadaw and shared the merits gained.
