At the meeting, Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin Htut Oo discussed that the implementations have been made to develop Myanmar’s commercial coffee production in the region and expand the coffee cultivation, naturally grown in the shade, not only for economic profit but also for conservation of the environment as well as climate change around the Pyin Oo Lwin area since 2002.

He also stressed that the private entrepreneurs who have acquired agricultural lands need to cooperate with the departments concerned as per the principles and rules set by relevant departments when implementing the Project.

Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi underlined that coffee growers in the forest area of Pyin Oo Lwin Coffee Project will be monitored to follow the policy and rules of the Ministry.

It is necessary to cooperate with related ministries and the Mandalay region government for the successful implementation of the Project according to the results of field survey teams.

Afterwards, the participants discussed the work completion and field surveys in their related sectors, over-using of specified roads and buildings on the permitted lands for coffee cultivation and cultivation of other crops and non-coffee cultivation lands to be managed under the law.
