Coastal Resources Management: Central Committee meeting held in Nay Pyi Taw

The National-Level Coastal Resources Management Central Committeeheld its 6th meeting at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation on Friday.

Committee Chairman State Administration Council Member Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya TunOo attended the meeting and delivered a speech. At the meeting, the Union Minister stated that ASEAN countries and others are working towards the UN's Sustainable Development Goals and have adopted the "Blue Economy" concept.

He emphasized Myanmar's potential for developing a blue economy, noting both the opportunities and challenges it presents. He called for collaboration among the government, private sector, NGOs and business owners to achieve sustainable coastal development through practical implementation.

The Union Minister exhorted Ministries, Region and State Governments to report and discuss current and future plans, measures and processes for the sustainable and balanced development of coastal and marine waters. This was followed by screening of an awareness video clip on coastal zone conservation.

The meeting continued with sector-wise reports on the committee's progress, national coastal resource management and future plans for sustainable coastal and marine development, including the Blue Economy. Upon the reports, the Union Minister coordinated the necessary matters.
