Coastal Localities Tighten Monitoring of IUU Violations

Coastal localities are implementing drastic measures to prepare for the European Commission’s inspection on combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing scheduled for November.

In Thanh Hóa, authorities have announced that organizations and individuals responsible for any illegal port docking will be held accountable until October 15. This initiative aims to prevent vessels from operating without proper licenses.

Since the beginning of the year, Thanh Hóa has addressed violations in 105 cases. So far this year, BìnhThuận has fined four boats that lost connection for more than ten days. The fines totaled over 4 thousand USD. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to enhance compliance with IUU fishing regulations.
