






Quality, high-tech Chinese investments coming into Myanmar requires the Myanmar-China business organizations to play a key role, said U Thant Zin Lwin, Deputy Minister for National Planning, Investment and Foreign Economic Relations.
The Deputy Minister made these remarks while attending and delivering a speech at the election of the new executive committee of the Chinese Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar (CECCM) and the 2026 China-Myanmar Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum, held on September 29 in Yangon.
The Deputy Minister said that in Myanmar's efforts to attract foreign investors for national economic development, China is at the top of the list of priority countries to invite. China continues to be Myanmar's largest trading partner and an important source country for foreign investment.
In the first six months of 2026, the bilateral trade volume between China and Myanmar reached 11.37 billion US dollars, an increase of 27.6 percent compared to the same period last year. This fully demonstrates the strong potential and dynamism of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
The ceremony was attended by Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ms. Ma Jia, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of National Planning, Investment and Foreign Economic Relations U Thant Zin Lwin, ministers from the Yangon Region government, and invited guests.
At the ceremony, the Chairman of the Chinese Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar presented certificates of honor to the new executive committee members. Afterwards, the Chinese Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar and the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry signed MoUs to collaborate on business operations in Myanmar.
