Classification and registration: Pilot project for the disabilities to be implemented

A pilot project of classification of disabilities and registration process has been implementing in Pobbathiri Township in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, Hlaingthaya Township in Yangon Region, Hpa-An Township in Kayin State and Shan State for providing necessary assistance to persons with disabilities.

Currently, there are a total of over 300 disable people in Pobbathiri Township and over 1,300 disable people in Hlaingthaya Township apply to register. Plans are underway to implement the process in other townships in September.

Director, Department of Rehabilitation, Si Thu Win said "There are 4 townships to implement the pilot project during 2022-2023 Fiscal Year. Experiences from the pilot project will be applied in covering the classification of disabilities and registration process throughout the country in future. People with disabilities who completed registering will achieve the necessary assistances such as health, education and humanitarian assistances in line with the existing law. "

In order to provide necessary assistance to the people with disabilities efficiently, the department of rehabilitation under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement is trying to implement the Classification of disabilities and registration process throughout the country.
