Clarifying Misinformation: Security Forces' operation in Salingyi Township

Fake news on social media alleged that the PDF launched attack to the security forces who are on operation in Salingyi Township of Sagaing Region, leaving 8 deaths.

The fake news also claimed that security forces set fire 8 houses and a hut in SaHton Village. True incident is that on 17th January, the security forces, acted on a tip-off about PDF terrorists near SaHton Village, and seized 11 improvised guns, 1 improvised mortar, 5 grenades, 2 improvised mine and related items.

During the armed exchange with the PDF terrorists near SaHton Village, the insurgents resorted to setting fire to houses in the village before fleeing. The security forces are carrying out the measures for security of the region, community peace and tranquility in cooperation with the people.

The illegal destructive media outlets are spreading false information to divert the attention from the terrorist activities of the PDF and sow discord regarding the security forces' efforts.
