







Leader of the Information Team of the State Administration Council Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun clarified the government’s efforts on eliminating online scams and other illegal works as well as the matters for People’s Military Service.
In his clarification, the Maj-Gen highlighted the government’s efforts on eliminating online scams, citing the remarks of SAC Chairman during the Union Government Meeting, held on 3rd February.
The government is actively investigating and taking decisive action against illegal online fraud activities. Any individuals involving those illegal activities will be taken effective action. He also mentioned the operation in KK Park of Kayin State, leading the arrest of 61 individuals including 39 Chinese, 1 Kazakhstani, 5 Indonesians, 1 Ethiopian, 1 Pakistani, 1 Malaysian and 13 Indians.
They have been handed over to the authorities in Thailand on 6th February. According to interrogation, they have been recruited via online to work in computer related works and translation works, paying a lot sum of money. They have been taken into the KK Park area illegally from Mae Sot in Myanmar-Thai border via Bangkok.
He added that efforts will continue in cooperation with international organizations to combat illegal online gambling and money laundering in Myanmar's border areas. For the People’s Military Service, the Maj-Gen stressed the ill intention of unscrupulous media outlets to cause panic among the public.
He added that public can study the bylaws of the People’s Military Service Law at the relevant websites, and make inquire and complaints to the Summoning Bodies of respective levels concerning the issue. He reiterated that there is no plan yet to summon women for People’s Military Service.
