Clarification of NIS: MoH UM presided over the meeting

The meeting of clarification on the National Immunization Strategy (NIS) (2025-2029) drafting by the Central Expanded Program on Immunization Unit under the Department of Public Health of the Ministry of Health was held at the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw on 3rd of July.

The Union Minister for Health presided over the meeting and gave an opening speech saying that Myanmar previously drafted Comprehensive Multi-Year Plan (cMYP) for EPI like other countries. In May, 2016, Multi - Year Plan for (2017-2021) was drawn and implemented. At the moment, as National Immunization Strategy is being compiled instead of cMYP internationally, Ministry of Health will continue collaborating with WHO in line with the Immunization Agenda 2030.

The National Immunization Strategy currently drafting is a crucial roadmap for the implementation regarding with the immunization within 5 years from 2025 to 2029 etc. Next, the Director Dr. Tin ThitsaLwin clarified the objectives of drafting National Immunization Strategy (2025-2029) and Dr. David Sulaberidze, consultant from WHO explained the draft of National Immunization Strategy (2025-2029).

The meeting was attended the directors General from the Ministry of Health, responsible officials from National Immunization Technical Advisory Group-NITAG and Inter Agency Coordination Committee – ICC, officials concerned from the related ministries, responsible persons from the CSOs, WHO, UNICEF and Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI).
