Chinese premier visits construction site of Chinese-contracted bridge in Croatia

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang paid a visit to the construction site of the Chinese-contracted Peljesac Bridge project in southern Croatia on Thursday in the company of Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic. The Peljesac Bridge is one of the most strategic infrastructure projects in Croatia.

it will connect the southernmost part of Croatia around Dubrovnik with the rest of the mainland. Li was briefed on the project's detailed work such as its latest progress, the construction's cost, materials, environmental criteria and timeframe. In a speech made on the construction site, Li called the Peljesac Bridge a bridge of friendship which not only links the two sides of the gulf, but also bears the two peoples' friendship. It is also a bridge of cooperation that serves as a model of tripartite cooperation among China, Croatia and the European Union, said Li. Li arrived in Croatia on Tuesday for an official visit to the country.
