Chinese New Year: Prime Minister joins the celebration in Yangon

2025 Chinese New Year Celebration took place at Thuwunna National Indoor Stadium in Yangon on Saturday. Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife attended the celebration.

After the ceremonial ribbon cutting for inauguration of the event, the Prime Minister and wife together with the Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar were welcomed by the performance of auspicious lion dance. The celebration included the formal opening of the event, New Year wish by the Shaolin monk along with the demonstration of Shaolin Kung Fu.

The Prime Minister and wife offered Buddha Images and fruit baskets to the Shaolin monks who in turn presented the commemorative gifts. This was followed by entertainment programs, and touring around the Chinese cultural booths and traditional food stalls.

During the dinner reception, the Prime Minister and wife together with the Chinese Ambassador took part in the Chinese traditional eye-dotting event and enjoyed the performance of Chinese traditional lion dance.

In his New Year Greetings, the Prime Minister expressed thanks for China’s stance on Myanmar’s efforts for holding the election, along with the enhancing the multi-sectoral cooperation between the two countries. He called for cooperative efforts of all concerned individuals for strengthening friendly relations between China and Myanmar with the spirit of peace co-existence and collaboration.

Then, the commemorative gifts to mark the New Year were exchanged by the Prime Minister and wife and the Ambassador.

The Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar also expressed wishes for development of the two countries, ensuring peace and prosperity in the shared future. During the dinner, the attendees enjoyed the varieties of entertainment programs featured by the cultural troupes from China and Myanmar.
