Chinese Foreign Ministry’s briefing on Middle East

China is deeply concerned about possible aftermath of the recent assassination of Hamas politburo Chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said at a press conference in Beijing on Thursday.

He said they firmly oppose and condemn the act of assassination, and that the incident may plunge the region into greater turmoil. He added that a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire in Gaza should be achieved as soon as possible to prevent escalation of the conflict and confrontation.
