China is willing to work with the new administration of the United States to promote bilateral relations from a new starting point, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said at a press briefing in Beijing on Monday. U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has told advisers he wants to travel to China after he takes office, the Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday.

“China stands ready to work with the new U.S. administration, under the strategic guidance of the presidents of the two countries and in the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, to maintain communication, enhance cooperation, properly manage and control differences and secure greater progress in China-U.S. relations from a new starting point,” said Mao.
