24 December 2018

China's domestically-developed Wing Loong I-D has successfully completed its maiden flight, the craft's developer announced on Sunday. The Wing Loong I-D took to the sky from an airport in western China on Sunday afternoon. The debut flight lasted for 30 minutes before the aircraft returned to make a smooth landing, said the state-owned Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC).

The aircraft is the first of its kind to be developed in China, with the fuselage built completely from composite materials. The Wing Loong I-D is a long-endurance UAS which is capable of functioning with high performance at medium altitudes and performing multiple missions.
